A woman believed to be sleeping on top of a lifeguard stand in Virginia was killed when it toppled over and crushed her, police said Monday.
Police responded to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront around 3:30 a.m. Saturday after getting a call that a lifeguard stand had fallen on the woman. The woman, identified as 28-year-old Chelsea Moles, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Virginia Beach police.
Police determined that Moles appeared to have been sleeping on top of the stand when someone else tied a hammock to it, causing it to topple over and fall on top of Moles.
Investigators rules Moles' death as accidental.
